Spring equinox (1)

This pathworking was originally written by me for a Green Circle meeting held in March 1989. It was published in Blad O, the Dutch magazine of which I was co-editor at the time, in March 1991.

About pathworking

Pathworking is a technique that comes from the Quabbalist tradition (the 'paths' which are being 'worked' with are the paths of the Tree of Life). You could also call it 'guided fantasy' or 'inner journey'. You can perform a pathworking within a magical circle, or you can just pick a place where you can make yourself comfortable and you won't be interrupted. You can do a pathworking sitting on a chair, sitting with a straight back, your hands resting on your thighs and your feet firmly on the floor, or lying down. If it helps you to have a vase of flowers in the room (daffodils are associated whith the spring equinox!), to light a candle or to have some incense burning in the room to get in the right mood, by all means do so.

What to do

You can tape the text of the pathworking and play it back, or have someone else read it aloud for you. When reading the text aloud you should remember to pause at appropriate places, to give the person who is doing the pathworking enough time to let images and experiences sink in.

Finishing up

After finishing a pathworking, take your time to get back to your normal state of consiousness. A hot drink and a light snack can help you doing this. When you did the pathworking together with other people it's helpful to talk about what you experienced. If you did the pathworking on your own, write down what happened, what you saw, felt, etc.

About this pathworking

The intention of this pathworking is to help you experience the spring equinox on a deeper level, and to bring you into contact with a number of symbols which are connected to the spring equinox. The pathworking is partly based on Wiccan spring equinox rituals.
